UFC 300 results: Kayla Harrison dominates Holly Holm for second-round submission

Kayla Harrison made it look easy in her UFC debut.

Harrison (17-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) punished Holly Holm (15-7 MMA, 8-7 UFC) on the ground before submitting her in the 1:47 mark of Round 2. The women’s bantamweight bout was part of the UFC 300 preliminary card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Round 1 started as a feeling-out process until Harrison threw a high kick and clinched. Harrison landed a judo toss, but Holm reversed her. Harrison worked her way up and took Holm down. Big mistake by Holm engaging in the grappling as Harrison started landing big shots. Harrison continued to drop big punches and elbows in top control to dominate the opening frame.

Harrison used the high kick to close the distance again as she briefly landed a double leg takedown. She locked in a guillotine choke as Holm worked her way up, but Holm broke free. Harrison proceeded to land another judo toss and quickly transitioned to back mount, before cinching in the rear-naked choke.

Harrison called for a title shot in her in-cage interview with Joe Rogan. The two-time Olympic gold medalist judoka guaranteed that she’ll be UFC bantamweight champion by the end of the year. Meanwhile, Holm is now winless in three of her past four fights.
