Midnight Mania! Rumor: Covington Kicked From ATT!

Apparently, words might have consequences after all, even in MMA!

Colby Covington has built himself a small fan base and much larger group of annoyed viewers with his brash, trash-talking ways. In addition, Covington made the strange choice to target his own team mates of American Top Team (ATT), notably throwing shade in the direction of Jorge Masvidal, Dustin Poirier, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

It seems the mega-gym has had enough of his antics. Earlier today, forums like Sherdog and Reddit’s /r/MMA realized that Covington was no longer listed on the Welterweight roster on ATT’s website.

That’s not enough to definitively say he’s been kicked off the team, but it’s pretty solid evidence.

If Covington has indeed been removed from the gym, it’s likely due to his frequent violation of ATT’s anti-trash talk policy, a set of guidelines that was put in place because of Covington himself! After that policy was put in place, Covington did briefly apologize to Poirier, but it didn’t take long for him to trash Jedrzejczyk once more.

A Covington cancellation also begs the question: where to next? There is another major gym in Florida in the Blackzilians … but it’s home to Kamaru Usman. Outside of the state, there are plenty of major options, but seeing as Covington has made an enemy of all Brazilian fighters, he’s likely to find conflict wherever he goes.

I guess that’s just the “Chaos” way.

Translated Twitter rumor: “Yas Island is the first island to host UFC previously, there is a partnership between the organization and the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, which extends to five years and the remaining four years, one of the officials stated that the return of UFC to Abu Dhabi will be next summer. All indications are that the fighting island is Emirates Yas Island.”
