Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker, opened as the betting underdog for his Darren Till main event, scheduled for this Sat. night (July 25, 2020) on ESPN from “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.

That was then. This is now.

“The Reaper” recently pulled even with “The Gorilla” on most of the major sportsbooks and even nudged his way to a slight favorite for BetOnline (www.BetOnline.ag). I’m still a bit surprised it’s so close, considering Whittaker (20-5) is 9-1 over his last 10 with four knockouts.

Turning away the likes of Yoel Romero and Ronaldo Souza in the process.

As for Till (18-2-1), his recent win over Kelvin Gastelum snapped consecutive losses (and finishes) to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal, performances that could be attributed to his difficult cut down to the 170-pound weight class.

Whittaker had similar troubles as a welterweight before finding his groove at middleweight.
