UFC on ESPN 15 weigh-in results: Edgar, Munhoz official, but changes hit the prelims

LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Friday’s official UFC on ESPN 15 weigh-ins, where the main card fighters hit their marks for the card.

The weigh-ins took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The same venue hosts Saturday’s card, which streams on ESPN+.

In the main event, Pedro Munhoz (18-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) takes on Frankie Edgar (23-8-1 MMA, 17-8-1 UFC), a former lightweight champion who is set to make his bantamweight debut after years competing at featherweight. Edgar was fourth to the scale during the two-hour window and was 135.5 pounds. Munhoz weighed in a few minutes later and was 136 to make the fight official.

In the co-feature, Alonzo Menifield (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was 204.5 pounds for his light heavyweight bout against Ovince Saint Preux (24-14 MMA, 12-9 UFC), who was a pound heavier at 205.5.

A welterweight fight between Calen Born (7-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Dwight Grant (10-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was scrapped from the card after Born, set for his promotional debut on short notice, did not attend the weigh-ins and pulled out of the fight. The reason, a source close to the booking told MMA Junkie, was due to “personal reasons.”

Additionally, Takashi Sato (16-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) made weight for his fight against Daniel Rodriguez (12-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC). But Rodriguez subsequently posted that Sato was not cleared to fight by the Nevada Athletic Commission, leaving his status in jeopardy. Rodriguez intimated on Instagram that he may be able to fight Grant, since both are welterweights and both made weight, but that has not yet been announced by UFC officials.
