UFC Vegas 13 will also see Tanner Boser attempt to continue his rise up the Heavyweight ranks at Andrei Arlovski’s expense and Raoni Barcelos step up on short notice to meet Bantamweight bruiser Khalid Taha.

What Went Wrong at UFC Vegas 12?

And now you see why I recommended mostly leaving that event alone. In my defense, both I and the vast majority of mixed martial arts (MMA) media scored Bobby Green’s fight with Thiago Moises for “King,” so it should have been only a small net loss.

Thoughts: This is not the most tempting lineup I’ve ever seen; however, stick with Alexander Romanov to beef up your parlays, with the possible addition of Darren Elkins.

Romanov’s utter mauling of Roque Martinez in his Octagon debut and Marcos Rogerio de Lima’s long, sordid history of being utterly useless off of his back should be sufficient explanation for the Romanov pick. I remain grumpy that the Martinez fight tipped people off as to what Romanov was capable of, as their initial match up was presented as a toss up.

Eduardo Garagorri is a subpar wrestler with decent pop, which plays right into Darren Elkins’ horribly mauled hands. If “The Damage” has anything left in the tank at all, this is his easiest match up in years. Just don’t go crazy … the man’s been through a lot lately.

Raoni Barcelos (-350) vs. Khalid Taha (+290)

Thoughts: Tanner Boser is the only tempting pick here. He’s a fair bit faster and a full 12 years younger than Arlovski. And with his recent improvements, I favor “The Bulldozer” to score a decisive victory over the aging veteran.

• Parlay — Alexander Romanov and Tanner Boser: Bet $70 to make $53.84
