Tim Elliott vs. Tagir Ulanbekov in the works for UFC 272 on March 5

A matchup between flyweight grapplers Tim Elliott and Tagir Ulanbekov is headed to UFC 272.

Elliott (17-12-1 MMA, 6-10 UFC) is expected to face Ulanbekov (13-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) March 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN/ESPN+.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking with MMA Junkie following a social media announcement by Iridium Sports Agency. The booking has yet to be officially announced by the promotion.

Elliott is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Matheus Nicolau at UFC Fight Night 194 in October. Prior to that, the former title challenger and Season 24 “Ultimate Fighter” winner scored back-to-back wins over Ryan Benoit and Jordan Espinosa.

Winner of his past five in a row, Ulanbekov is 2-0 to kick off his UFC tenure. A teammate of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Ulanbekov scored decision wins over Bruno Silva, and most recently Allan Nascimento at UFC 267 in October.

With the addition, the UFC 272 lineup includes:

  • Jessica Eye vs. Manon Fiorot
  • Mariya Agapova vs. Maryna Moroz
