UFC Austin free fight: Josh Emmett takes out Mirsad Bektic in Round 1

It only takes one shot for Josh Emmett to end a fight.

Emmett faced Mirsad Bektic at UFC Fight Night 155 in June 2019, and it didn’t take long for him to send a message to the featherweight division in front of his hometown of Sacramento.

It was a feeling-out process for Emmett to start as he patiently waited for his moment. Bektic was outlanding Emmett until the Team Alpha Male contender dropped him with a stiff left jab. Bektic tried to latch onto a single leg takedown, but Emmett was all over him with some brutal ground and pound for the first-round finish.

Since then, Emmett (17-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) extended his winning streak to four by scoring back-to-back wins over Shane Burgos and Dan Ige. He returns to action Saturday when he takes on Calvin Kattar (23-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) in the main event of UFC on ESPN 37, which takes place at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The card airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.

Before he faces Kattar, relive Emmett’s finish of Bektic in the video above.
