The PFL wraps up its regular season with key women’s lightweight and heavyweight fights this week.
2021 PFL 6 takes place Friday at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. The main card airs on ESPN2 following prelims on ESPN+.
(Click here to open a PDF of the staff picks grid in a separate window.)
In the main event, unbeaten two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison (9-0) takes on Cindy Dandois (16-6). Harrison already has 6 points in the standings and she’s a heavy 5-1 favorite at BetMGM. She’s the 2019 women’s lightweight champion and our only unanimous pick on the main card.
In the co-feature, Raush Manfio (12-3) takes on Anthony Pettis (24-11) at lightweight. Pettis was upset in his promotional debut, which left him with 0 points in the standings. Pettis’ second fight was delayed two weeks, so he has the advantage of knowing if he gets any kind of finish against Manfio, giving him 4 points or more, he’ll make the postseason. He’s a 2-1 betting favorite, and a near-unanimous pick from our staff members at 12-1.
Also on the main card, Movlid Khaybulaev (16-0-1) meets Lance Palmer (22-4) at featherweight in another bout in which the two fighters are the only ones left to wrap their seasons in the division. Three fighters have locked in 145-pound playoff spots, and the fourth has 5 points. That means Khaybulaev or Palmer could bump Sheymon Moraes if they hit 6 points. For Palmer, that means a first-round finish. For Khaybulaev, that just means a win. Khaybulaev is a slight favorite at -135, but it’s Palmer with a 7-6 picks edge.
And to open the main card, Denis Goltsov (26-6) is a -250 favorite against Brandon Sayles (6-1). Merely winning for either of them will lock up a playoff spot – and it’s possible the loser still could sneak in the back door if heavyweights on the prelims who have no points in the standings don’t get early stoppage wins. Only one of our pickers is taking Sayles in an upset.
In the MMA Junkie reader consensus picks, Harrison (79 percent), Pettis (64 percent), Palmer (58 percent) and Goltsov (58percent) are the choices.
