Chimaev A Small Underdog Vs. Usman

Oddsmakers expect a tough fight if Khamzat Chimaev and UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman meet.

Oddsmakers think an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight title fight pitting Kamaru Usman vs. Khamzat Chimaev would be rather competitive.

Chimaev wowed mixed martial arts (MMA) audiences by thrashing Li Jingliang (No. 11) and choking him out cold (watch highlights) in the first round of their fight at UFC 267, which took place inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. on Oct. 31. The ease with which he won immediately had people wondering what an eventual clash with Usman would look like.

Bet Online has released its early odds for a potential fight between Usman (19-1) and Chimaev (10-0).

Oddsmakers have Usman as a 2-1 favourite, rather close considering each man’s respective resumes. Chimaev’s biggest wins to date are first-round finished of Jingliang and Gerald Meerschaert; however, he has dominated all four of his UFC bouts. Usman’s reign of terror boasts an undefeated Octagon run spanning 14 fights with victories over Jorge Masvidal (twice), Gilbert Burns, Colby Covington, Tyron Woodley, Rafael dos Anjos, Demian Maia, Sean Strickland and Leon Edwards.

UFC 268 is headlined by the bad blood UFC Welterweight title rematch of Usman vs. Colby Covington 2. Other big bouts on the card include Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler, Shane Burgos vs. Billy Quarantillo, Frankie Edgar vs. Marlon Vera and Al Iaquinta vs. Bobby Green, plus the UFC debut of former two-division GLORY kickboxing champion Alex Pereira.
