Mike Perry revisits Julian Lane brawl ahead of BKFC debut: ‘This situation kinda pisses me off still’

Mike Perry’s brawl with Julian Lane has left a sour taste in his mouth.

But the good thing for Perry is he’ll get a chance to settle his score with Lane when they square off Feb. 19 at “BKFC: KnuckleMania II,” which goes down in Hollywood, Fla.

During a conversation with the commentary team at “BKFC Fight Night: Tampa” in December, Perry was hit in the face by a bunch of cards that Lane threw his way, and a brawl ensued. “Platinum” admits he wasn’t in the best head space as he took the time to revisit the incident in a recent interview with MMA Junkie.

“I guess I was ready throughout the night, but then when they brought me over – and I had a few drinks that night, so I wasn’t fully clear-headed and wasn’t totally sober,” Perry said. “I tried to drink some water before I went over there to do the interview. I tried to take some deep breaths and be like, ‘Oh man, I’ve got to try to sober up,’ and I don’t know, he threw those cards at me. Whatever, bro. This situation kinda pisses me off still I guess, but we’re gonna get our chance.

“I’m going to get my chance to fight him fair and square, no guard rail. I’ll be able to control the space and distance, and we’ll see how it works out. He’s got experience in bare-knuckle, but I think I’ve got experience in being better – a better fighter. It just comes down to getting in there and doing it. I’m ready for that, so f*ck that guy, bro. He pissed me off with that. The response that I received on the internet was pretty good. It benefitted me. It still pissed me off. Whatever.”

For the majority of his career, Lane has been known for his infamous drunken meltdown during his participation in Season 16 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” where he had too much to drink and burst into an outrage. But Lane has also been actively competing under bare-knuckle rules, logging in seven fights with a record of 3-4.

Perry on the other hand, recently laced up the boxing gloves after departing from the UFC and picked up a split-decision win over Michael Seals at Triller Triad Combat in November. Having competed against the likes of Santiago Ponzinibbio, Paul Felder, Donald Cerrone and Vicente Luque in MMA, Perry sees Lane as a step down and a must-win fight.

“People know the ‘Let me bang, bro,’ moment on ‘TUF,’” Perry said. “It’s hilarious. He’s a little b*tch. Little crybaby, or he had some drinks – it’s funny to me. I’m kind of like damn – this is an opportunity, though, but I’m kind of like, damn. I don’t know if anyone wants to really fight a bum. You want to fight the biggest names in the game.

“But it’s where I’m going right now, and you know, what I’ve got do? I’ve got to do my f*cking job. I’ve got to go out there and beat this bum. Like, he is a bum. I’ve got to destroy him, and I’m going to do my best, and I’m probably going to. I’m probably going to destroy him. I hope so. I’m going do my best, but fighting is a funny game.”
