Justin Gaethje is looking to become the first fighter to successfully defend the “BMF” title when he meets Max Holloway tomorrow night (Sat., April 13, 2024) at UFC 300 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, but he first had to answer questions about the original “BMF” titleholder, Jorge Masvidal.

Remember, Masvidal was the first fighter to win the inaugural “BMF” title back at UFC 244 by stopping Nate Diaz via third-round TKO. That was supposed to be a one-off appearance for the “BMF” belt, but UFC dusted it off for a matchup between Gaethje and Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 in July 2023. Gaethje ended up stopping “Diamond” via head kick knockout to claim the belt.

Masvidal, who failed to capture a win inside of the Octagon following his victory over Diaz in 2019, eventually suggested that he’d come out of retirement to fight Gaethje in a “BMF” unification bout. Gaethje quickly shot down Masvidal’s proposal, which prompted “Gamebred” to threaten to break his orbital.

Earlier this week, Gaethje caught up with Daniel Cormier for a pre-fight interview leading into UFC 300 and was asked about Masvidal. Gaethje pulled no punches in his assessment of “Gamebred” and what he currently brings to the table.

“The only orbital he got broken is his against Kamaru [Usman] and I loved to see it” said Gaethje (shown above). “He f—king cheap shotted Colby Covington and didn’t break his orbital.”

“Nothing was more special than seeing all that mist come off his face when f—king Kamaru put a hole through it,” Gaethje added.

“He’s fat as f—k. I fight at 155 pounds, so he can f—k off.”

Gaethje, who is coming off back-to-back wins over Rafael Fiziev and the aforementioned Poirier, is the betting favorite to knock off Holloway and retain his “BMF” title this weekend at UFC 300. As for Masvidal, he’s currently booked to meet Diaz in a rematch under boxing rules this coming June (details HERE).
